1. Go for a run in the El Retiro Park

Running is taken very seriously in Madrid. Put on your running shoes and go for a run in the beautiful park of El Retiro. Run past the Palacio de Cristal or the Estangue Grande del Retiro. Tip: There is a fountain at the Centro Deportivo where you can fill your bottle of water for free.

2. Find Your Inner Peace with Yoga

What is better than some meditation in the nature. Every week there are several yoga classes across the El Retiro Park. Go to the park in the morning and surround yourself with the sound of nature and find your inner peace.

3. Work on your core with Pilates

If you want an activity without the spiritual component, then Pilates is your calling! Work and tone your core muscles whilst seeing some peaceful sites in Madrid. The beautiful Parque Del Oeste has weekly classes with experienced Pilates instructors. 4. Take a Dip in a Swimming Pool

When temperatures reach boiling point, nothing beats a refreshing dip in a swimming pool! Madrid’s outdoor swimming pools are found throughout the city, even in the surrounding mountains. Live like the Spanish and set up camp by the pool! Another cool thing is the rooftop swimming pools in Madrid, make sure to Google for a swimming pool and enjoy a swim and a view that no one can resist.

5. Play Padel

When you want to impress the locals, nothing will do it more than playing padel. Much like tennis but with walls on the court, padel is one of the most popular sports in Spain. With a wide range of indoor and outdoor facilities, you’ll definitely find a place to play!

6. Go to a sports-centre

If you like to play sports such as basketball, badminton, squash or tennis, then you have to take a look at a local Polideportivo.

How to find your Local Polideportivo (sports-center)? Go to this website and search for the sports-center closest to you. You type in your district or your street. Then, make sure that on the drop-down bar you’ve selected “deportes”. Click search.

There will be a list of centers. You can choose the one that is closest to you. On the list, you can find the address, the phone number, and what they offer. For example, some sports-centers have pools, and others don’t.

After you choose you choose the most convenient center, you can click the name, and it will take you to a new page where there are directions as well.

Once you’re a member of a polideportivo, you can visit any of them, meet your friends at their sports center, etc. You’re not attached to just one!
